Selling shares, and EDIS.

When you sell, you also have to hand the shares over. EDIS in Mero Share is how you do that from your phone.

  1. Place a sell order in TMS

In TMS, choose Sell, enter the symbol, quantity and price, and submit. When the order matches, you get a sale bill.

  2. Update your purchase price

In Mero Share, open My Purchase Source and check the price you paid for these shares is there. Capital gains tax is worked out on your profit, so a missing price can mean paying more tax than you should.

Capital gains tax is 7.5% of the profit on shares held up to a year, and 5% if you held them longer (for individuals).

  3. Transfer the shares with EDIS

In Mero Share, open My EDIS and choose Transfer shares. Select the sold shares and the quantity, tick the declaration and confirm. Do this by 12 noon on T+1.

  4. Get paid

After settlement, the sale amount minus commission, SEBON fee, DP charge and capital gains tax is paid to your bank account.
