Your first trade, in 7 steps.

Never bought a share before? This is the whole journey, from opening your account to seeing the shares in your DEMAT.

  1. Open your accounts

You need three things: a trading account with a broker (us), a DEMAT account to hold your shares, and Mero Share to see and manage them. You can apply for all three together, online, in about 10 minutes.

Have your citizenship certificate, National ID (NIN), a passport-size photo and your bank account details ready.

  2. Get your TMS login

Once we approve your account, your login details for NEPSE's Trading Management System (TMS) are sent to your registered email or mobile. Log in, and change your password the first time.

  3. Add collateral (your buying power)

Before you can buy, deposit funds as collateral. Your buying limit depends on the collateral you hold with us, and is never more than 4 times it.

Not sure how much to deposit? Start small. You can add more at any time.

  4. Choose a company

Look at the companies listed on NEPSE, their recent prices and news. The market is open Sunday to Thursday, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (pre-open from 10:30 AM). Take your time: nobody at the broker will tell you what to buy, and that's how it should be.

  5. Place a buy order

In TMS, open the order form, choose Buy, enter the company's symbol, the number of shares and your price, then submit. Your order shows in the order book until it matches with a seller.

Check the minimum quantity and the price range TMS allows before you submit.

  6. Pay your bill by T+2

When your order matches, you get a bill. Pay the amount by T+2, two trading days after the trade day. Unpaid bills can lead to the purchased or collateral shares being sold to recover the amount.

  7. See your shares in Mero Share

After settlement the shares arrive in your DEMAT account. Log in to Mero Share to see them under My Portfolio, and update My Purchase Source with what you paid, so your profit and tax are worked out correctly when you sell.

CLIENT TO REVIEW This guide explains the general process in plain language. Exchange and CDSC rules change from time to time; if anything here differs from what you see in TMS or Mero Share, follow the system and ask us.
