Opening an account

How do I open an account?
Apply online in about 10 minutes through our online application. Or download the KYC and DEMAT forms, fill them in, and bring them to our Jawalakhel office.
What documents do I need?
  • Citizenship certificate (front and back). Foreign citizens need a passport.
  • National ID card (your NIN is required) and, for online applications, a selfie holding your citizenship certificate. PAN is optional
  • A recent passport-size photo
  • Your signature and both thumbprints
  • Bank account details in your own name
  • A location map of your home
  • Your employee ID card, if you work for an organisation
Can I open an account for a minor?
Yes. A guardian applies on the minor's behalf. We need photos of both the guardian and the minor, the guardian's details and signature, and the child's birth registration certificate if a parent is the guardian. If there's a legal guardian, we also need the related legal documents.
I live outside Nepal. Can I apply?
Yes. Non-resident Nepalis can open accounts. We'll ask for your foreign address, your NRN details, and a close relative in Nepal, and we may verify you by video call.
How do I get my TMS and Mero Share logins?
Once your account is approved, we send your TMS username and password to the email or mobile number in your KYC. Mero Share login details come from CDSC to your registered mobile or email. Keep them confidential, and tell us straight away if they're lost or compromised.

Trading & settlement

How can I place orders?
Online through NEPSE TMS, or through our dealers: in person, by telephone, by mobile or by email. We may record orders placed by phone for your protection.
How much can I buy?
Your buy limit is a multiple of the collateral you deposit with us, never more than 4× that collateral. Securities used as collateral are valued at up to 70% of their market value.
When do I have to pay for shares I buy?
By T+2, two trading days after the trade, according to your bill. If payment isn't made, we may sell the purchased or collateral securities from T+4 to recover the amount due.
What do I need to do when I sell?
Transfer the sold shares (EDIS) to our settlement account by 12 noon on T+1, and give us the base (purchase) price of the shares at least one day before settlement. Sale proceeds are paid to you after taxes, fees and charges.
What does it cost?
Brokerage commission is set by the regulator and charged in slabs based on the transaction amount. Every transaction also attracts a 0.015% SEBON fee. See brokerage charges.

Your account

Are there yearly fees?
Yes. Online trading and SMS services carry an annual renewal fee each fiscal year, and DEMAT and Mero Share are renewed annually. You can renew through client services.
My address or bank account changed. What should I do?
Tell us within 7 days of any change to your KYC details. Use the KYC update request, and we'll verify the change with you.
Can I close my account?
Either side can end the agreement with one month's written notice, once all outstanding obligations are settled.
Who do I contact with a complaint?
Our grievance management officer, Mahesh Khanal: 9851027899 · mahesh@81.akbsl.com. Disputes not resolved between us are handled under the Securities Trading Operation Regulations 2075.
